The LTD EX-201 is an affordable way to get into the extreme EX shape, and offers a reverse matching headstock and a single direct-mount ESP LH-150B pickup with antique nickel cover, which can be split for single-coil sounds with a push-pull volume knob. The guitar has a set-through maple neck, 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets, a TonePros locking bridge and tailpiece, and a single direct-mount EMG 81-7H humbucker. The most affordable of the additions to the EC range is the LTD EC-201, which has set-neck construction, 24 extra-jumbo frets and a single LH-150B pickup. The Charcoal Burst version has single-ply rather than multi-ply binding. This guitar also comes in Vintage Gold Satin, and in Charcoal Burst. That said, this could be a 100% legit neck plate as ESP seems to have been rather inconsistent with the logos and have many many changes to the neck plates over the years.Seven new guitars have joined ESP’s popular LTD EC Series. New ESP neckplates with logos are available for sale separately on Ebay, but they would not come with a serial number. I attached a picture of an ESP neckplate from another auction for reference below. Also, the numbers are not lined up properly (ESP doesn't generally have sloppiness like that), and the logo just looks a bit off to my eyes.
ESP LTD SERIAL NUMBERS YEAR SERIAL NUMBER
The serial number is quite large, and the distressed finish on it does not match the new shiny black hardware on the rest of the guitar. The workmanship (without seeing under the pickguard) looks like ESP quality as does the hardware.ģ) The only thing I see that gives me pause is the neck plate as I have not come across one that looks exactly like that.
ESP LTD SERIAL NUMBERS YEAR CODE
Further, the four digit handwritten code is similar to what I have on my ESP necks.Ģ) As for the body, some ESP's have an ESP logo stamped into the neck pocket, some don't seem to have it. This guitar in question appears to have that feature.
ESP also does an fairly unusual and difficult to fake thing where the ends of the frets are filled in with fretboard colored material so the tangs for the frets are not visible. The fakes utilize the water slide decals you can find on Ebay. The "ESP Custom" logo appears to be silk screened as it should be. I do not consider myself to be an ESP expert by an means but here are some of my semi-informed observations:ġ) Neck looks legit.
